Darts
Two weeks ago, I was at Wendy's place in Tlusticé (1/2-way bet. Prague & Plsen), as I am inclined to do from time to time 'cos it's nice. Hearing that I was a keen sports enthusiast, her parents invited me to enter a darts contest at one of the local country pubs. It was a typical old-fashioned, country hospoda, decorated with yester-year flotsam and jetsom. Very pleasant.
There were about 15 competitors in the darts tournament, including me, Wendy, Martín and Helena Kaššová. One of the local gentlemen players was one of the tallest men in the world - he was at least 7-foot-5. Would make Timmy look like a hobbit.
After a couple of local ales, the contest began, and I was drawn to play Wendy's dad.
Great! ..I must point out that he is the owner of approximately 100 darts champion trophies which proudly line their dining room wall. 'Nuff said. So, suffice it to say, my tournament was off to a bad start. He casually wiped the board with me.
But it did get better...My next opponent was an innocuous looking middle-aged woman with a badly dyed 'do'.
"Hmph," I snorted. "This old bird is chicken-feed. I shall crush her mercilessly with my dart wang! hahahahahaha-haa!!!!!!" (well, loose quote..)
Turns out however, that she was not too bad. Not too shabby at all in fact. Turns out that she was Czech national darts champion last year...and 8th best woman in the entire world the year before.. In fact, it was a huge honour to watch her play, let alone play her one on one.
So then my focus was immediately turned to the comsumption of more beer and local yum-yum liquor, (yes, I was destroyed completely if you want to know.. the darts, that is - the drink was fine), and Wendy's dad actually went on to win the whole competition. Sweet as. So, quite a nice little experience.
But not as nice as the week just passed. But that children, is another story. Now it's late and you're very tired. It's time for bed. Night, night xxx

That's some smart darts, boy.
James.
now you're making me jealous-i want to go to the czech countryside too! i miss going to nature on cottage. sounds like you had an awesome time! what's your plans for this weekend? drink some gambrinus for me- i bought some pilsner urquell the other day but considering i don't really like pilsner urquell, it didn't really satisfy my craving for czech beer. oh, you can also get "czech-var" here, but it's hard to find. and who cares if i did? i don't like that one much either. no, it must be gambrinus, kozel or krusovice (depending on the type). so go have some for me! miss you! love, lara
